Gift of the Givers has taken action to bring hope and humanitarian assistance to those in dire need. The situation in Gaza remains dire. Tens of thousands of individuals face severe food, water, fuel, and medical supply shortages.

SAPeople reports that Gift of the Givers, a well-known humanitarian organisation, has a significant presence in Gaza. Recognising the urgent need, they’ve mobilised their resources to support local hospitals grappling with a critical shortage of medical supplies amid continued violence.

The organisation’s efforts have been further amplified through the launch of a crowdfunding campaign on BackaBuddy and alongside the dedication of two remarkable volunteers, Ruqaiyah Peer, a 24-year-old optometrist from East London, and Aaliya Kader, a 10-year-old girl from Johannesburg, Gift of the Givers successfully raised over R250,000 to deliver essential aid to those in Gaza who are in desperate need.

Ruqaiyah Peer stressed the situation’s urgency: “Our fellow Palestinian brothers and sisters are in dire need of emergency shelter, sustenance, and medical provisions. Collaborating with The Gift of the Givers, we can make a significant impact in assisting them.”

The ongoing violence has placed immense strain on healthcare facilities. Gift of the Givers has responded with a multi-pronged approach, including procuring medical supplies, medicines, and wheelchairs for injured individuals. They also fund fuel purchases for ambulances, deliberately targeted in the conflict.

Dr. Imitaz Sooliman, the founder of the Gift of the Givers Foundation, remains hopeful for a ceasefire and emphasises the organisation’s mission of relieving suffering. He said, “We believe that there are no winners in war and there are no losers in peace. We wish not to see children in pain and mothers losing children and loved ones.”

During the conflict, the outpouring of compassion and generosity from individuals and organisations serves as a beacon of hope, demonstrating that even in the darkest times, humanity can shine.
