Carols on the Piazza at Melrose Arch: A Festive Celebration for a Cause

Kick off the holiday season at Melrose Arch with the annual Carols on the Piazza, a magical evening of Christmas carols and community spirit. This year’s event, happening on Saturday, 23 November 2024, features the world-renowned Mzansi Youth Choir, who recently wowed global audiences on America’s Got Talent. The evening promises not only enchanting music but also the chance to contribute to a worthy cause.

What to Expect at Carols on the Piazza

Set in the heart of Melrose Arch’s vibrant piazza, attendees will sing along to beloved Christmas classics performed by the Mzansi Youth Choir. Known for their powerful voices and dynamic performances, the choir will deliver a heartwarming set under the glow of Johannesburg’s largest and most spectacular festive light display. The event guarantees a joyful evening that combines the magic of music with the beauty of the holiday season.

A Fundraising Concert to Give the Gift of Sight

This year’s Carols on the Piazza aims to uplift the community by raising funds for the visually impaired. The proceeds from the evening will benefit:

  1. The South African Guide Dogs Association
This organization trains guide and service dogs to empower individuals with disabilities to live more independent lives.
  2. Cornelle Leach
A guide dog owner with Stargardt’s Dystrophy, Leach requires a second surgery to restore her vision. Her bravery and determination to pursue advanced biotechnology treatments have inspired many South Africans.

“Carols on the Piazza is more than an evening of celebration—it’s an opportunity to come together for the greater good,” says Khanyi Moyo, Marketing Manager at Melrose Arch. “Investing in our community is central to who we are, and this event exemplifies the spirit of generosity.”
