The Springbok Women’s rugby team has announced a 32-player squad for their upcoming tour of France and Spain, led by captain Nolusindiso Booi. The short tour includes matches against England’s Under-20 side and a Test match against Spain.

The squad will set up camp in Marcoussis, near Paris, where they will train alongside the French national team and face England U20 in a warm-up clash. They’ll then travel to Alicante to play Spain in a one-off Test on 19 April before returning to South Africa two days later. Coach Swys de Bruin emphasised the importance of this European tour in preparing for future international competitions, including the Rugby World Cup.

New faces and key returnees

Among the 32 players are three uncapped talents: Faith Tshauke, Xolelwa Diliza, and Alicia Willemse.

“Faith had a fantastic season for the Bulls Daisies. She’s incredibly versatile – covering all loose forward positions and even lock – and reminds me of someone like Franco Mostert,” said De Bruin.

He also pointed out the opportunity for Xolelwa Diliza, stepping in for the injured Micke Gunter, to make her mark on tour. The squad will hold a brief training camp in Cape Town before departing for France on Friday evening. Three players – Nadine Roos, Zintle Mpupha, and Ayanda Malinga – will first represent the national Sevens team at the Challenger Series in Poland. They’ll join the squad in Spain, along with France-based lock Sinazo Mcatshulwa.
