Cricket South Africa confirmed on Sunday that fast bowler Corbin Bosch will replace Anrich Nortje in the national squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Bosch, who made his one-day international and Test debuts against Pakistan in December 2024, will travel to Karachi on Sunday. He will join the South African squad for a triangular series against Pakistan and New Zealand, which serves as preparation for the Champions Trophy set to begin on February 19, 2025.

Nortje was initially included in the squad last month, but due to a back injury, he was withdrawn just one day later.

In Nortje’s place, Gerald Coetzee was initially named as a potential replacement, but he was pulled from the tri-series squad after experiencing groin tightness during a pre-departure net session. To fill the gap, teenage fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has been added to the squad for the tri-series and will serve as a travelling reserve for the Champions Trophy.

In other news, Cricket South Africa also announced the appointment of former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat as a consultant for both the tri-series and Champions Trophy tournaments in Pakistan.

Revised South African Squad:

  • Temba Bavuma (capt)
  • Corbin Bosch
  • Tony de Zorzi
  • Marco Jansen
  • Heinrich Klaasen (wkt)
  • Keshav Maharaj
  • Aiden Markram
  • David Miller
  • Wiaan Mulder
  • Lungi Ngidi
  • Kagiso Rabada
  • Ryan Rickelton (wkt)
  • Tabraiz Shamsi
  • Tristan Stubbs
  • Rassie van der Dussen
