Aarya Sunker, a promising young athlete from Bryanston Country Club, has earned a spot on the South African schools U15 girls’ tennis team. This achievement marks a significant milestone in what is rapidly becoming a promising tennis career.

For Aarya, this selection is not just a recognition of her talent but a reflection of her dedication and hard work. “When I received the news, I felt an immense sense of joy and accomplishment,” she said. “This is a huge achievement for me and a testament to the countless hours of training and effort that have finally paid off.”

The path to being selected for the national team was not easy. Aarya explains that it involved competing against top-level players from across South Africa, testing both her mental and physical endurance. “The road to selection was demanding. I faced high-level opposition from various provinces, which pushed me to give my best every time,” she shared.

Despite facing setbacks, such as rain during the interprovincial tournament, Aarya remained determined. “The weather disrupted my rhythm, but I learned to adapt and push through,” she explained. “Overcoming these challenges has made me stronger and better prepared for what lies ahead.”

For Aarya, being selected for the U15 team is just the beginning of her journey in tennis. “Being chosen for the team is a huge boost for my future in tennis. It’s a significant achievement, but I know there’s still so much more to work for,” she said, expressing her ambition for the future.

Aarya’s meticulous preparation played a key role in her success. “My training involved extra match practice, and I’ve been fortunate to have a strong support system at home,” she shared. “My dad, who is also my coach, has been crucial in my development. His guidance and support have been fundamental in helping me reach this point.”

Aarya is already focused on her future in the sport, setting higher goals for herself as she continues to grow and improve. “I want to build on this experience and keep pushing myself to reach new heights in tennis,” she said, eager to see how far she can go.

She also emphasized the importance of teamwork and the lessons she’s learned from her time with the U15 team. “At first, being part of such a talented team was intimidating. But I quickly realized how much I could learn from my teammates. The bonds we formed were essential to our success,” she explained, highlighting the valuable teamwork skills she gained during the experience.
