Yeoville in crisis – Residents at their wits’ end as water outages persist!
Residents in Yeoville are frustrated with the continuing water outages that have made some parts of the area have no water. Eyewitness News reports that the outages are due to a breakdown at the Yeoville reservoir, affecting areas such as Yeoville and Braamfontein.
Johannesburg Water has begun an emergency tender process to acquire the necessary parts to repair the water disruptions. However, residents are unhappy about the lack of communication on when Joburg Water will complete the repairs.
Some residents have also reported difficulties with the water tankers that the water utility company has dispatched. One pregnant resident with a young daughter said she struggles to collect water from the tankers. In contrast, another said senior citizens are also having difficulty accessing them.
Residents have taken to social media to express their frustration and ask Johannesburg Water for a time frame for the repairs. The water outages are becoming a burden to them.
