Vandalism of infrastructure has severely impacted the water supply in Yeoville

Vandalism of infrastructure yesterday has led to severely impacting the water supply in parts of Yeoville, according to Johannesburg Water. As reported by SABC News, this issue adds to the ongoing challenges faced by the city, including a recent problem at Rand Water’s Eikenhof pump station, which has severely affected the Commando system comprising Brixton, Hursthill, and Crosby.

Johannesburg Water spokesperson Puleng Mopeli assured residents that technical teams are labouring to recover the system and improve the recovery period. One intervention up for consideration is linking Hursthill 1 with the Northcliff reservoir system to provide relief to struggling areas.

Regular pumping at the Yeoville reservoir has resumed, and Johannesburg Water expects the system to improve soon. However, Johannesburg Water urges residents to report any instances of infrastructure vandalism or significant bursts and leaks to its SMS Line.
