EMPD nabbed an undocumented biker for bribery. On October 27, EMPD officers from the Thembisa precinct apprehended a motorcyclist on bribery charges and for violating the Immigrations Act 13 of 2002. The officers were conducting patrols in the Umtambeka Section when they spotted a white Big Boy delivery scooter operating recklessly. The officers signalled the motorcyclist to stop, but he appeared noticeably nervous.

When asked to produce official documents, the biker failed to do so and instead attempted to offer a R200 note to the officers in the hopes of avoiding scrutiny.

However, his attempts at bribery were in vain. The individual now faces charges related to reckless and negligent driving and bribery. Officers promptly took him into custody and transported him to the Rabasotho Police Station.

The authorities summoned immigration officers to ascertain the suspect’s immigration status.

The undocumented biker will appear before the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court shortly. The motorbike used to commission these offences was impounded and stored at the EMPD Thembisa Precinct.
