Tshwane Mayor Commits to Uninterrupted Bus Services

Mayor Cilliers Brink expressed the municipality’s dedication to maintaining bus services and enhancing security measures for both drivers and passengers. Brink engaged with commuters during a trip to Garsfontein from the CBD, emphasising the vital role of these services in residents’ lives. He assured commuters that services would continue and the municipality would collaborate with law enforcement to bolster security.

In a conversation with passengers, Brink discovered these services’ significance and impact on residents’ daily lives, reinforcing his commitment to keeping them operational. Monica Mashoga, a commuter who shared her experience with the mayor, expressed her relief that the buses were back in service, saving her time and money.

After a disruption caused by an unprotected strike by Tshwane workers, the municipality recently announced the resumption of TBS and A Re Yeng bus services. However, the initial resumption faced challenges as many drivers refused to operate due to safety concerns. Metro spokesperson Selby Bokaba reported that only 36 out of 160 daily shifts were covered, and the situation would be monitored to assess improvements and route resumptions.
