Transmission Financing Seminar

Minister in The Presidency for Electricity, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, is set to co-host a Transmission Financing Seminar in collaboration with the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) today. The seminar will be pivotal in stimulating discussions concerning financing South Africa’s Transmission Development Plan.

SANews reports that Dr Ramokgopa will deliver a keynote address at the seminar, which aims to catalyse dialogues about the financial aspects of South Africa’s Transmission Development Plan. This plan will bolster, reinforce, and ensure the sustainability of the nation’s energy mix and electricity supply.

Expanding and enhancing South Africa’s electricity transmission infrastructure is essential for enabling diverse energy solutions nationwide. It will also contribute to the national electricity grid. This goal will significantly augment South Africa’s electricity supply and empower the energy sector to align with global decarbonisation objectives. It will also protect the nation’s long-term energy security and energy independence.
