Thursday and Friday without water

Sandton residents are bracing themselves for spending Thursday and Friday without water as Rand Water and Johannesburg Water announced a critical 20-hour maintenance project. According to Jacaranda FM, the extensive maintenance work will commence on Thursday at 5 pm, with water supply disruptions expected to persist until Friday at 1 pm. The primary objective of this emergency repair is the urgent replacement of an isolating valve within the Sandton meter, which supplies water to various parts of Johannesburg’s northern areas, including reservoirs such as Bryanston, Illovo, Morningside, Linbro Park, and Marlboro. Acknowledging potential challenges, Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo emphasised the necessity of this repair.

Johannesburg Water is committed to filling the affected reservoirs to maximum capacity before maintenance to address the imminent water supply interruption. Despite these efforts, customers residing in elevated areas may encounter low water pressure during maintenance. Johannesburg Water reassures residents that alternative water supply measures will be in place if necessary. The proactive approach minimises the impact on residents while facilitating the critical repairs needed for the Sandton water infrastructure.
