Empangeni Residents Left Reeling After Violent Thunderstorm

Destructive rains and strong winds hit Empangeni and surrounding areas on Monday afternoon, causing extensive damage. According to Zululand Observer, residents and business owners reported flooding and structural damage to homes and office buildings as the hail storm, accompanied by lightning and thunder, battered the region.

Fallen trees have caused road closures, and parts of Richards Bay are without power due to the heavy rains impacting Eskom lines. Although the thunderstorm has subsided in some parts of the region, including Richards Bay, emergency services have urged residents to exercise extreme caution.
