Despite months of court deliberations on the admissibility of confession statements, the trial has resumed, focusing on their details. Ngomezulu requested time to acquaint himself with evidence from the main trial, which was initially not part of it. However, he did not contact the judge or clerk to excuse his absence.

State advocate George Baloyi informed the court that Mngomezulu cited another matter but agreed to proceed with the trial. Judge Ratha Mokgatlheng criticised Mngomezulu’s conduct, questioning why he didn’t notify the court. Testimonies from an interpreter and a police officer have been heard, detailing aspects of the case.
