Temporary Closure of Weltevreden Landfill Site Reinstated

The City of Ekurhuleni has issued a temporary closure notice for the Weltevreden landfill site in Brakpan and the Simmer and Jack landfill site in Germiston. This decision has been made due to unforeseen circumstances affecting the operation of these sites. As a result, all individuals who typically use these landfill sites are urged to redirect their waste disposal to alternative locations.

The recommended alternative sites for waste disposal during this closure period are the Rooikraal landfill site located near Boksburg and Platkop, situated at the junction of the N3 highway and the R550 near Heidelberg. These alternative sites will serve as the primary locations for residents and businesses to dispose of their waste until the Weltevreden and Simmer and Jack landfill sites are reopened for public use.
