Alberton SPCA hosts golf day to raise funds for vulnerable animals
This event aims to raise much-needed funds to support the critical work the SPCA undertakes in their daily caring for vulnerable animals in the community.
The Alberton SPCA receives an average of 200 animals each month, yet it faces severe limitations in space and resources, with only 58 dog kennels and 11 cat kennels available.
The growing demand for their services has put immense pressure on the organisation, highlighting the urgent need for more kennels and upgraded facilities.
“The golf day is not just a fun event but a crucial fundraiser that will directly impact the lives of the animals in our care,” said Lauren Martens, a spokesperson for Alberton SPCA.
“We are calling on the community to help us build more kennels and improve our facilities to continue providing the best care possible for the animals that need us.”
In addition to the need for more kennels, the Alberton SPCA goes through an average of 25kg of food every day, a significant expense that strains their limited resources.
They also rely on an outsourced veterinarian to provide essential medical care for the animals, adding to their financial challenges.
Participants in the golf day can look forward to a day of friendly competition, great prizes, and the satisfaction of knowing they are making a tangible difference in the lives of countless animals.
The cost to play is R600 per player, which includes green fees, a half-way voucher, dinner and prize-giving.
Hole sponsorships are available at R2 000 and R5 000. They also desperately need prize donations.
