Taxi association donate school shoes
The Mahube Valley Primary School in Mamelodi East received a donation of brand-new shoes from the Mamelodi Amalgamated Taxi Association (Mata) on Friday. A total of 36 pairs were donated to learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Freddie Mashapa, the public relations officer of Mata, stated that the donation is part of the association’s community outreach initiatives. He highlighted that Mata has previously engaged in projects aimed at supporting local schools and communities.
According to Mashapa, Mata has visited over five schools this year, with teachers identifying students in need of essential items such as school shoes and uniforms.
The primary objective behind the donation of school shoes and uniforms is to motivate learners to attend school regularly and feel included in the educational environment.
Mashapa further expressed that their efforts also aim to assist parents facing financial constraints in providing necessary school attire for their children.
Morena Raesibe, the deputy principal of Mahube Valley Primary School, expressed gratitude on behalf of the school and learners towards the taxi association for the timely donation.
Raesibe emphasized the positive impact of the donation, particularly for learners from underprivileged families. Wearing new school shoes is expected to instill a sense of belonging and boost the students’ self-esteem.
Mata additionally encouraged learners to prioritize their education, emphasizing its significance as a gateway to future opportunities and personal growth.
