Police in Gauteng have arrested two other suspects for the murder of five-year-old Ditebogo Phalane Junior. The child was murdered during a car hijack in Soshanguve in Tshwane. According to IOL, one of the suspects is also out on bail.

The pair, aged 29 and 30, were arrested Monday by Hawks, Crime Intelligence and Akasia police officers working in a multidisciplinary team.

Nkabi also stated that ‘after receiving information the team worked throughout the night to look for more suspects concerned with the murder of Phalane’. The team processed the information late Monday after getting it from the Crime intelligence unit. It conducted the arrests in Soshanguve and Atteridgeville.

Two unregistered guns were seized during the arrests. Nkabi added that one of the firearms could be the murder weapon for the death of Ditebogo Phalane.

The two suspects will be arraigned before the Pretoria Magistrate Court on Wednesday. The one out on bail was arrested for alleged hijacking, attempted murder, and possessing an illegal firearm.

The news that was shared by IOL last week was related to the progress in the murder case after SAPS stated that two suspects were arrested at first. They also recovered a car jamming device, a firearm and a stolen vehicle from the suspects during the hijacking.

This five-year-old boy lost his life when the assailants fired at his father’s car during the hijacking on May 10.
