Sandton Convention Centre was abuzz with Standard Bank’s 25th Joy of Jazz Festival

The 2024 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz recently celebrated a significant milestone of 25 years as Africa’s premier jazz festival. The event took place on September 27 and 28 at the Sandton Convention Centre, featuring over 50 world-class jazz musicians.

Artists who graced the stage over the two days included Mimi Mtshali, Chucho Valdes Royal Quartet, Sibongile Mngoma, Mpumi Dhlamini, Mi Casa, Vusi Nova, and Joe Nina with the South African Air Force Band. The performances were spread across five stages named Dinaledi, Diphala, Conga, Lounge, and Mbira.

The festival spotlighted jazz music influences from various regions such as Africa, Europe, East Asia, and the Americas, presenting a global perspective on jazz as a unifying musical language.
