The Gautrain has announced a complimentary bus service for ticket holders attending the Springboks Rugby Championship match against Argentina at Emirates Airline Park in Johannesburg on Saturday, 29 July 2023.

According to Tshepo Kgobe, the Gautrain Management Agency Chief Operating Officer, this free bus service for rugby fans follows a similar initiative during the Nedbank Cup Final, where Gautrain trains and buses were provided free of charge to ferry spectators to Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Hatfield as reported by SA News.

Kgobe stated that offering these free services aligns with the province’s strategy to revitalise the economy of Gauteng, with significant sporting events serving as a catalyst for economic growth. The Gautrain aims to establish itself as the preferred mobility option for both work and leisure activities within the province.

However, it’s essential to note that the free bus transfer from Gautrain Park Station to Emirates Airline Park is exclusively available for match ticket holders who travel using the Gautrain. Standard train and parking fees will still apply.

The first bus is scheduled to depart from Gautrain Park Station to Emirates Airline Park at 1 pm, while the last bus will leave Emirates Airline Park for Gautrain Park Station at 8 pm. During the journey, passengers are required to adhere to the standard Gautrain rules, which include refraining from eating or drinking on the train, bus, or at stations.

The build-up to the match will commence at 4 pm, with the match itself starting at 5 pm.
