According to Rand Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala, the planned maintenance aims to repair leaking pipelines. During the shutdown, residents in Soweto will experience low water pressure to no water supply. Areas affected include the Chiawelo and Doornkop West reservoirs and the direct feeds to the Tshepisong and Chiawelo regions.
Rand Water urges residents to store sufficient water at least two days before the outage, as recovery may take up to 48 hours after the water supplier completes maintenance work.
