Ramaphosa Praises Xi Jinping on Electrifying Election Win and Calls for Stronger Partnership

Cyril Ramaphosa ongratulated President Jinping on his election victory

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on his unanimous election victory in the National People’s Congress, which guarantees him a third five-year term as president of the second-biggest economy in the world.

As reported by IOL, Ramaphosa delivered his message via video link during the Chinese Communist Party’s international dialogue with world political parties, which numerous political party leaders attended.

Ramaphosa said South Africa and China share similar values, including mutual respect, non-interference, and win-win partnerships. He praised China’s principled foreign policy posture and stressed the need for a multipolar global order based on mutual respect.

Trade volumes between South Africa and China reached $56.7 billion in 2022, up 5%, and achieved a record high in recent years. China has been South Africa’s biggest trading partner for 14 years, and South Africa has been China’s largest trading partner in Africa for 13 years.
