South Africa Set to Host BRICS Games

South Africa is gearing up to host the 5th edition of the BRICS Games in eThekwini Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal Province, from October 18 to 21. The event is expected to boost people-to-people interactions among BRICS countries.

Athletes aged between 19 and 21 from BRICS nations will participate in swimming, badminton, table tennis, tennis, and beach volleyball. Zizi Kodwa, South African Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture, highlighted the significance of these games in strengthening the connections and partnerships among BRICS nations, emphasising how sports have the power to unite people, communities, and nations as reported by People Daily Online.

As the current BRICS chair, South Africa hosted the 15th BRICS Summit in August 2023.
