In a successful special operation conducted by police officers from the Norkem Park Police Station on Saturday, six suspects were arrested for diesel theft. The procedure, carried out with precision, not only led to the apprehension of these individuals but also resulted in the recovery of stolen property valued at R1 million.

Gauteng provincial commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela commended the police officers for their effective execution of the operation. Fueled by suspicions, the investigation led the officers to an address in Birch Acres, Kempton Park, where they wielded a search warrant.

Upon entering the premises on September 2, the police arrested six men allegedly involved in the routine diesel theft. Among the confiscated items were a substantial 5,000 litres of stolen diesel, two vehicles, 58 cellphones, three laptops, and 80 bank cards.

Further examination of the property revealed additional valuable items, including three batteries (one lithium and two Vodacom), 12 diesel containers, and two air pistols.

Lieutenant General Elias Mawela expressed his appreciation for the Norkem Park team’s dedication in executing the search, making the arrests, and recovering the stolen goods. He stressed that such actions send a strong message to criminals, indicating they will face swift and decisive consequences for their unlawful activities.

The six suspects appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on September 4, facing charges related to possessing suspected stolen property. Notably, three apprehended individuals were depot employees from which the stolen diesel was routinely pilfered. The outcome of their court appearance remains pending.
