Silent Walk and Run Department's Leadership Sept 16

The Department of Women, Youth, Children, and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD) cordially invites members of the media to participate in the 7th Annual Silent Walk and Run event, slated for September 16, 2023, at Marks Park Sports Ground in Emmarentia, Johannesburg. This event, organised in collaboration with the NEEMA Foundation, aims to raise awareness and garner support for individuals with disabilities while actively dismantling the barriers created by stigmatisation and discrimination against them as reported by the South African Government. The primary aim is to foster sustainable partnerships with organisations in the disability sector.

Venue: Marks Park Sports Ground, Emmarentia, Johannesburg

The DWYPD joins forces with distinguished figures and organisations dedicated to social development and anti-discrimination efforts. These include Cllr Ennie Makhafola, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Health and Social Development in the City of Johannesburg; retired General Riah Phiyega, CEO of Safer South Africa and renowned anti-drug and social activist from the Yellow Ribbon Foundation; Charlene Roberson representing the Tears Foundation, and China Mashinini, the Acting Head of Department at the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture & Recreation.
