The comprehensive bursary programme covers tuition fees, on-campus accommodation, and a grocery allowance and guarantees employment upon graduation.

The group invested over R16 million in the bursary programme in the previous financial year, supporting 206 students.

Being one of South Africa’s largest private-sector employers, Shoprite is a preferred choice for graduates in the country.

According to Shoprite, the bursary programme has paved the way for successful careers in various retail sectors, and the company aims to nurture young talent and shape them into future industry leaders.

One beneficiary, Albert Kopakae, expressed his gratitude for Shoprite’s funding and apprenticeship opportunities. Now working as a functional analyst in Shoprite Technology, he values the chance to contribute to tech innovations for Africa’s largest retailer.

Amelia Veldschoen, another beneficiary, appreciates the support offered by Shoprite as a new graduate. With a degree in BCom Supply Chain Management, she currently works at the group’s Centurion distribution centre, making a meaningful impact on customers’ lives through efficient supply chain management.

Shoprite’s bursary programme continues to empower students and contribute to their career success in the retail sector.
