Fatal Shootout: Police Confront Suspected Robbers on Marlboro Drive Off-Ramp
Today, there was a shootout on Marlboro Drive in Sandton between police and suspected robbers, leaving one dead.
According to the reports, the shootout followed a suspected robbery incident in Centurion earlier in the day. As per EWN, the victim in this incident was shot and rushed to the hospital afterwards.
The suspects intended to rob the convenience store, where they scouted the place. They then held the suspects off-ramp at the Marlboro Drive while authorities pursued them.

Based on the assertion of the JMPD spokesperson, Xolani Fihla, the suspects exited their vehicle and shot at police operational members.
Unfortunately, the gunman died during the shooting exchange. However, the others managed to run away and evade the arrest.
Given the occurrence, the commuters are informed to avoid the neighbourhood since traffic jams are likely due to the ongoing police activities.
