Although the Benoni SAPS has yet to provide an official report to the Benoni City Times regarding the incident, Jane Trembath, Chairperson of the Korsman Conservancy, is present at the scene and reports that the suspect remains elusive. Trembath received a call indicating that the suspect had leapt over the fence and was seen attempting to swim across the pan to conceal himself in the reeds. She and security guards deployed canoes to search the area but have yet to locate the suspect. Additionally, security personnel discovered the suspect’s abandoned shoes on the rock island, suggesting he might have left them there.
There have been no further leads on his whereabouts. Reports suggest that the suspect was armed with a knife during the incident.
