Sassa Grants: No Expected Glitches, But Cash Shortage at KZN Post Offices

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has advised grant beneficiaries in KZN to collect their payments from ATMs and retail outlets like Boxer, Pick n Pay, SPAR, Shoprite, and Usave. This recommendation applies to those who started receiving their grants recently.

Sassa issued this guidance because several post office branches in the province have reported potential cash shortages due to delays in cash deliveries.

Despite possible cash flow constraints in KZN, the agency’s branch in Mpumalanga has assured beneficiaries that the October payment cycle should proceed smoothly. This assurance comes after technical glitches affected grant recipients nationwide last month.

According to Sassa, elderly beneficiaries will receive their payments on October 3, those with disabilities on October 4, and children in grant categories on October 5.
