SAPS VIP protection unit assaulted three men in a shocking incident caught on camera, which has since gone viral. According to Briefly News, the disturbing footage shows multiple members of the unit carrying guns, violently dragging one man out of a car, and brutally assaulting others.

Twitter user Ian Cameron shared the video of the assault that occurred on the N1 highway near Fourways, with the officers kicking and stomping on the victims before leaving the scene in two black BMWs. See the video below:

National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the vehicles belonged to the police, who have launched an internal investigation. The SAPS is actively seeking the victims and urging them to provide statements, as the police unequivocally distance themselves from the actions of their members.

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola condemned the officers’ behaviour, stressing that the police should uphold the law.

The incident has sparked outrage among South Africans, with social media users expressing their concern over the incident and questioning the identity of the individuals under VIP protection and their alleged involvement.

The video recording reminds the public of the importance of recording such incidents and reporting illegal activities to hold those responsible accountable.
