SANDF will join the security at the BRICS summit

Troops from SANDF will join the security at the BRICS summit this week.

EWN reports that the prestigious event will welcome more than 40 heads of state and a host of international delegates, converging at the Sandton Convention Centre for a comprehensive three-day summit commencing on Tuesday.

In preparation for the summit, Police Minister Bheki Cele addressed a substantial gathering of law enforcement officers early Monday morning. These officers had been strategically deployed to the Sandton area.

During his address, Minister Cele emphasised that deploying soldiers from the SANDF would augment the significant police presence already on the streets of Sandton. This multi-layered security approach underscores the nation’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for international delegates, attendees, and the public.

Minister Cele’s message to the criminal elements was unequivocal: “Say to criminals, this is what we will do, ensure to criminals that you will make their lives difficult. We are calling on the leadership of all the forces to remind those who get out of their line of march that that’s not the way to go.”
