Samsung Introduces ViewFinity S9: A Remarkable New 5K Monitor
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has expanded its ViewFinity monitor lineup by introducing the 27-inch ViewFinity S9 (S90PC model), now available globally. This launch enhances Samsung’s portfolio of high-resolution monitors, following the earlier introduction of the ViewFinity S8 (S80PB model) in June 2022, known for its Ultra High Definition (UHD) resolution. The new ViewFinity S9, recognised as a CES Innovation Award honoree in 2023, is specially designed to cater to the needs of professionals in the creative and visual industries.

Hoon Chung, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasised the S9’s role in delivering top-tier performance and an exceptional experience for creative professionals. He highlighted the monitor’s lifelike colour clarity, versatile connectivity options, and the ability to handle ultra-high-resolution content effectively, eliminating the need for constant zooming.
The ViewFinity S9 boasts a 27″ screen with a remarkable 5K (5,120 x 2,880) resolution, offering outstanding picture and text clarity. This high resolution enables professionals to work on their projects without zooming in, ensuring their editing tools remain visible on the screen.
With a 99% DCI-P3 colour coverage and 218 pixels per inch (PPI), the ViewFinity S9 delivers vibrant and saturated colours with sharp details, making it an ideal choice for those who demand visual fidelity. The typical 600 cd/m2 brightness ensures that users can work comfortably in various lighting conditions. The monitor’s colour accuracy is guaranteed with Samsung’s calibration technology, which provides incredible Delta E <21 accuracy right out of the box.
To make calibration more convenient, the ViewFinity S9 offers Smart Calibration, which can be controlled using a smartphone. Users can choose between basic and professional modes, allowing them to adjust white balance, gamma settings, colour temperature, luminance, colour space, and gamma settings with ease. The calibration process begins by simply pointing a smartphone camera at the monitor’s screen. The ViewFinity S9 also provides a report detailing the adjustments made and the Delta E colour accuracy.
The monitor incorporates TUV-certified Intelligent Eye Care features to minimise eye strain during extended use. Samsung’s Matte Display reduces light reflection and glare, helping to minimise distractions while working.
The ViewFinity S9 offers versatile connectivity, with Thunderbolt 4, mini DisplayPort inputs, and USB-C compatibility for both Mac and Windows PC users. Thunderbolt 4 allows users to charge devices with up to 90W of power and transfer data at speeds of up to 40 Gbps.
For video calls, the monitor features a built-in 4K SlimFit camera that connects via pogo pin without additional cables or equipment. This camera provides crystal-clear quality for apps like Google Meet. The camera’s tilt function ensures that you remain visible and in-frame even as you shift your position.
The ViewFinity S9’s slim metal design is suitable for any workspace. It offers an ergonomic design, providing comfort and improved productivity by adjusting to various positions and postures. The height-adjustable stand aligns with the user’s eye level, and the screen tilts to match preferred viewing angles. In Pivot mode, the screen rotates 90 degrees, making it convenient for reading long documents with reduced scrolling. VESA mount compatibility allows users to save space and maintain clutter-free desks.
The monitor comes with embedded Smart TV apps, providing a full TV experience when switching from work to entertainment. Instant access to popular streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+, built-in speakers with Adaptive Sound+ for automatic noise level adjustments, and remote control make it an all-in-one solution for both work and leisure.
