The Salvation Army is appealing for donations of food and blankets as South Africa faces cold weather conditions. The South African Weather Service has forecasted cold temperatures across most parts of the country in the coming days. Snowfall has been reported in areas such as Soweto, Alberton, Roodepoort, Heidelberg, and Vosloorus as reported by Dispatch Live.

Thataetsile Semeno, a spokesperson for the Salvation Army, stated that they had received numerous calls for assistance, particularly from homeless communities desperate for temporary shelter, hot meals, clothes, and blankets. Many of their centres across the country have been inundated with requests, especially from those on the streets with children.

The Johannesburg Homelessness Network has requested donations of warm clothes such as jackets, jerseys, and shoes to be delivered to their offices.
