Amad’s social media post coincided with a parliamentary motion to shut down the Israeli embassy, potentially leading to diplomatic ties being severed between the two countries. The SAJBD condemned Amad, a member of Al Jama-ah, for inciting violence and described him as an extremist, reflecting his party’s views against Jewish people.
The board urged President Cyril Ramaphosa to address the issue, stating that Amad’s actions exacerbated tensions and called for strong censure of his conduct. The SAJBD emphasised the contrast between Amad’s divisive post and President Ramaphosa’s recent declaration against violence in South Africa.
