A strike by South African Airways (SAA) pilots has led to significant disruptions in holiday travel, beginning Thursday, December 5. The strike impacts all SAA-operated flights on key domestic and regional routes, including flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Windhoek, and Mauritius. Although the strike’s duration remains uncertain, it is expected to cause major disruptions during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

Flight Centre South Africa’s Managing Director, Euan McNeil, acknowledged the inconvenience caused to travelers and reassured customers that the company is focused on helping them navigate the situation. The travel agency is providing regular updates and assisting passengers with rebooking options. However, flights operated by SAA’s codeshare and Star Alliance partners will proceed as scheduled.

Travelers are urged to stay informed and reach out to their airlines or travel agents for updates and rebooking information. With airports expected to be busier than usual, passengers are advised to arrive earlier than usual to account for potential delays and crowded terminals. Flexibility in travel plans will be crucial as travelers may need to make alternative arrangements.

Flight Centre remains committed to helping customers stay updated and prepared for any further developments.
