Rosebank development reduces taxi space
Rosebank’s development has caused a shortage of public transport space for taxis, with ongoing upgrades to the Rosebank taxi rank. Stakeholders, including taxi owners, have expressed concern about the lack of space, with one lane being replaced with the pavement as reported by Rosebank Killarney Gazette.
The Johannesburg Development Agency is implementing upgrades in two phases to accommodate the growing commuter base.
The first phase, which is currently 20% complete, includes upgrades to food stalls, ablution facilities, and entrance and exit points.
The second phase will provide a long-term solution to overflow problems by extending the holding facility to accommodate additional taxis.
