Reduced Power Cut Stages as Kusile Generating Units Recover – Ramokgopa

Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa announced that the recent power supply stability over the weekend had been attributed to the recovery of units at the Kusile power station. Due to mechanical issues, these units had been offline since October of the previous year as reported by Eyewitness News.

As a result of the return of Kusile Unit 3 to service, coupled with improved generation performance and lower-than-expected electricity demand, load shedding will be temporarily halted until 16:00 on Monday, when stage 2 load shedding will resume. Eskom will promptly notify the public of any significant changes in the situation,” said Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena.
