Morningside’s Isabella Petersen’s gymnastics success begins
Redhill School is excited to share the news of Grade 8 learner, Isabella Petersen, who has been chosen to represent the Gauteng Gymnastics Association at a prestigious competition in Cape Town in September.
Isabella secured her spot after participating in a rigorous gymnastics contest over the August break, where her hard work and dedication paid off.
Reflecting on her success, Isabella expressed, “I felt immense joy and pride knowing that my efforts had yielded results.”
Nevertheless, the journey was not without its hurdles.

“The most challenging part was not allowing a low score on a specific apparatus to demotivate me.”
Preparing for such a high-stakes competition requires a significant level of commitment. Isabella dedicates about 10 hours per week to training leading up to major events, honing her skills to perfection.
Her passion for the sport and her long-term aspirations serve as her driving force.

“I derive satisfaction from acquiring new skills and pushing my limits. The thought of potentially representing South Africa in the Olympics one day has kept my enthusiasm alive.”
Juggling school responsibilities with training is another facet of Isabella’s life.
“I must be meticulous in planning my weeks and disciplined in adhering to my schedules to prevent feeling overwhelmed.”
As Isabella heads to Cape Town, her objective is clear: “To perform at my best and secure medals on every apparatus.”
She acknowledges her parents and coaches at Paragon Gymnastics as her primary pillars of support throughout her gymnastics journey.
With her talent, determination, and a strong support system, Redhill School extends its best wishes to Isabella for her upcoming competition and the promising future that lies ahead.
