raping his nephew's girlfriend

The police arrested a 43-year-old man in Soshanguve for allegedly raping his nephew’s girlfriend. The incident occurred on Sunday when the victim (23) reported that the suspect forcefully took her from her boyfriend’s room to another room where the assault occurred, according to police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi. The suspect was due to appear in court yesterday.

The leader of The Transformation Alliance, Abel Tau, thanked the police for their swift action in apprehending the alleged perpetrator. “TTA is relieved, albeit cautiously, that the suspect who assaulted and raped a woman in Soshanguve has been arrested,” Tau said. He highlighted that the incident happened close to where another young girl was recently raped and murdered.

Tau also raised concerns about an alleged attempt by a policeman to financially influence the victim into withdrawing the charges. He stressed taking the matter seriously and demanded a thorough investigation. Additionally, Tau noted the actions of a woman, believed to be the suspect’s girlfriend, who allegedly tried convincing the victim to drop the case. These allegations warrant further scrutiny, and Tau urged the police to investigate the matter.

Lastly, Tau commended the victim for refusing the financial inducements, stating that this would allow the suspect to prove his innocence in court.
