The family of slain Rand Water executive Teboho Joala have welcomed the recent arrests of three men linked to his murder, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation. Joala, along with his bodyguard Sifiso Shange, was tragically shot and killed during a back-to-school event in Zakariyya Park, south of Joburg, in January, according to EWN.

Eyewitness News reported that Joala’s family expressed confidence in the criminal justice system’s ability to close the case. At a sensitive stage of proceedings, Joala’s family refrained from commenting during the three suspects’ appearance in the Lenasia court.

Rand Water, where Joala served as the chief shared services officer, echoed the family’s sentiments, highlighting the importance of allowing the police space to conduct a thorough investigation. The arrested individuals are now facing charges of:

  • double murder,
  • attempted murder, and
  • possession of a firearm.

Joala, laid to rest in Pretoria on February 4th, leaves a legacy of dedication and service to Rand Water and its community.
