Chislehurston based Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation turns 20
The Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation (CRF) recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary as an organisation dedicated to uplifting South African’s lives.
The foundation hosted its partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to an intimate, reflective celebration, characterised by presentations of testimonials by those whose lives had been touched through its outreach programmes. The CRF was joined by Adopt-a-school & KST, Thari, the Black Umbrellas, and the Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) missions’ representatives and beneficiaries.

Although the republic’s president was not in attendance, the impact made through his foundation – and its partners represented at the event – was felt, through the reflections shared at the event in Chislehurston, on August 22.
The CRF CEO Mmabatho Maboya said that the work undertaken by the foundation predominantly addressed inequality in disadvantaged areas. She expounded on the work that they have done around Sandton, and in the Alexandra community, for several years.

“We have an informal partnership with the Alexandra Education Committee, and assist them to identify bright students from Alex who need assistance with further learning,” Maboya said. “We also do career guidance sessions wherein we partner with schools when they host career days.”
CRET executive director, and Bryanston resident, Chantelle Oosthuizen explained how the education trust and foundation, comprising the president’s legacy, has worked with schools in Sandton over the years.
“We have gone into several schools here, where we do career guidance as part of our giving back to the community, through addressing the fact that our youth need to be given the correct information, and guided to unlocking what their futures hold,” Oosthuizen said. “Children can achieve great things with the right grounding, and motivation.”
The Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation was established in 2004 as the Shanduka Group, incorporating CRET and Adopt-a-School. The foundation seeks to advance programmes that target socio-economic challenges in education, youth development, and nation building, among several other aims.
