President Ramaphosa Advocates for Global Peace
President Cyril Ramaphosa, during the official talks with King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands on the occasion of the Netherlands’ state visit, emphasised the South African government’s plea for an immediate end to hostilities, both in the Israel-Palestine conflict and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He expressed his concerns about these conflicts and called for the upholding of international law as reported by SA News.

The President asserted that South Africa, with its history of reconciliation, is proof that peace can be achieved even in times of conflict. He applauded the strong bilateral relations between South Africa and the Netherlands, highlighting the Dutch role as a major investor and South Africa’s position as a tourist destination for Dutch travellers.
President Ramaphosa stressed that this strategic partnership between the two countries is built on shared values and a commitment to human rights, equality, development, and prosperity. He acknowledged the Netherlands’ apology for its historical involvement in the slave trade, emphasising the importance of reconciliation and healing old wounds. President Ramaphosa concluded by expressing his hope for the continued growth and development of this strong partnership between South Africa and the Netherlands.
