The Presidency expressed condolences to the Mandela family. Vincent Magwenya, the presidential spokesperson, conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Presidency to the Mandela family following the passing of their beloved grandchild, Zoleka Mandela, a renowned author and activist.

According to SANews, Magwenya expressed the Presidency’s deep sorrow: “As the Presidency, we add our sincerest condolences to the sympathies expressed by many individuals and organisations at the passing of Ms Zoleka Mandela.”

He continued, “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Ms Mandela, who has passed away at an age that has deprived all of us of benefiting from the full potential of her charismatic and creative commitment to a diversity of social causes and campaigns.”

The Presidency also extended its well-wishes to the Mandela family as they prepare to remember and bid farewell to Zoleka.

Zoleka Mandela, the granddaughter of anti-apartheid icons Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, battled cancer for an extended period before passing. She passed away on the eve of her grandmother’s birthday. Winnie Madikizela-Mandela would have celebrated her 87th birthday this year.

President Ramaphosa Expresses Sympathy for Western Cape Flood Victims

President Cyril Ramaphosa recently addressed the floods in the Western Cape in a separate statement.

“The President would like to extend his sympathies to all the people who have been affected by the recent floods in the Western Cape,” Magwenya said on the President’s behalf. “The President also expresses his condolences to those who have lost their loved ones during this disaster.”

Magwenya acknowledged the President’s gratitude for the rapid response and dedicated efforts of various disaster management teams, law enforcement agencies, NGOs, and officials. These groups have worked tirelessly under challenging conditions to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens affected by the floods.
