Gauteng residents and drivers can now use the PotholeFixGP app to report faulty traffic lights, expanding its functionalities beyond its initial purpose. Introduced in 2022 as part of the Smart Mobility campaign by the provincial Department of Roads and Transport, the app initially focused on reporting potholes across the local and provincial road network. Eyewitness News reports that the app offers real-time updates on the status of reported issues, progressing from assignment to completion. It further serves as a platform to verify if the reported traffic signal or pothole is on a municipal, provincial, or national road.

The extension of the app’s capabilities to address faulty traffic signals underscores its success and relevance, showcasing the department’s dedication to improving road safety and functionality in the province.
