Postbank Issues Apology for Delay in Social Grants

On September 5, frustration surged among SASSA beneficiaries as they encountered significant difficulties accessing their payments due to system glitches. Postbank, in a statement addressing the issue, revealed that it was grappling with intermittent technical problems that were impeding certain beneficiaries from withdrawing their funds from ATMs and retailers.

These technical challenges extended their impact to include some SASSA Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R350 withdrawals within retailer establishments. Postbank has been actively working to resolve these issues and has committed to addressing the inconvenience and difficulties faced by its SASSA grant customers.

In their statement, Postbank expressed their profound apologies to all their customers and assured them that they would promptly notify beneficiaries once the technical problems were resolved.

Importantly, the bank clarified that social grant payment transactions conducted through SASSA gold cards at Post Office branches were unaffected and processing normally, unaffected by the technical issues.

Residents like Johannes Mahlangu expressed deep concern, particularly for senior citizens who found themselves stranded and struggling as they attempted to access their payments at banks and retailers without success. The frustration stemmed from the lack of prior notification regarding these payment delays, which left beneficiaries in a challenging and uncertain situation.
