Police Officer Airlifted to Hospital After N4 Crash
A police officer and six others were airlifted to the hospital following a crash on the N4 near the Hornsnek Road Bridge on Sunday night. According to Pro Med emergency service spokesperson Michael Gough, the police officer sustained life-threatening injuries.
Reports indicate that at approximately 21:30 on Sunday night, emergency services received a call regarding an accident involving a police vehicle on the N4 near the bridge.
Upon arrival, paramedics found two vehicles involved in the collision, including a police vehicle.
Gough confirmed that a total of seven individuals were injured in the accident.
Two police officers and five civilians were among those involved in the collision.
The critically injured police officer was airlifted by Netcare 911’s helicopter to a specialised hospital in Johannesburg. Other injured individuals were reported to have sustained moderate injuries.
Multiple emergency services responded to the scene, providing necessary treatment and transportation for all patients to various hospitals. The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently under investigation.
