Moot Police Hunt Six Suspects Following Robbery at Car Dealership
In a recent incident, police are on the lookout for six suspects involved in an armed robbery in Moot at a car dealership in Gezina. The heavily armed perpetrators entered the premises, demanding employees to lie down before fleeing with an undisclosed sum of cash. Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk stated that four of the six suspects were armed during the robbery.

The suspects also seized six cars from the garage, including a Gold Kia Picanto, a black Renault Clio, a white Polo Vivo, and a silver Audi A3. This incident, characterised as isolated, marks the first occurrence of such a crime in the area, according to Van Dyk. Authorities caution the public against approaching the armed suspects and urge anyone with information to come forward.
The robbery takes place amid concerns raised by Minister of Police Bheki Cele about an increase in violent crimes, as indicated in the second quarter crime statistics. Despite efforts to combat criminality, the statistics reveal worrisome upward trends in specific crime categories.
