The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is seeking assistance from residents regarding a recent incident involving a hijacking, kidnapping, and rape in Proclamation Hill, Pretoria West on Friday.

According to TMPD, the event took place at approximately 22:45. The tactical unit members of TMPD promptly responded to a report of a hijacked Nissan hardbody vehicle found abandoned in Saulsville, Pretoria West.

Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba, spokesperson for TMPD, mentioned that the vehicle was taken during the hijacking, with the driver and his wife as occupants. The suspects then drove off with the victims and subjected the woman to a harrowing ordeal. When law enforcement located the deserted vehicle, the suspects were not present.

“A case involving hijacking, kidnapping, and rape has been reported to the South African Police Services (SAPS). Despite the recovery of the vehicle, TMPD is collaborating with SAPS to track down and apprehend the individuals responsible for this despicable crime,” stated Mahamba.

TMPD urges any residents with information related to the incident to reach out to the nearest police station or contact TMPD at 012 358 7095/6.

“Commissioner Yolanda Faro, the head of TMPD, strongly denounces this atrocious act by criminals and assures the community that TMPD will tirelessly pursue the culprits until they are brought to justice,” Mahamba added.
