Petition Seeks Support from Noordwyk Residents for Troubled Liebenberg Road

In an effort to address the growing number of accidents on Liebenberg Road in Noordwyk, Ward 112 committee member Sipho Dibakwane is initiating a petition for traffic-calming measures. On November 11, he will be present at Noordwyk Shopping Centre from 9:00 to 12:00 to gather community support.

Dibakwane emphasised the need for measures to curb accidents and improve safety, attributing some incidents to the absence of traffic calming structures. The petition aims to request these measures on Liebenberg Road and at various entry and exit points in the ward. Recent accidents and a defective traffic light at Olifantsfontein and Lever roads are concerns.

Potholes on George Road, reported 10 months ago, are also raised, and the JRA spokesperson notes they will be addressed by November 8. The JRA requires a formal petition submitted to the Office of the Speaker before considering additional traffic calming measures and once received, the Traffic Engineering Unit will assess potential locations and present a report for approval.
