Tragic Heist at Pavilion Mall Claims the Life of Durban Cop, Pregnant Woman Among the Injured

In a tragic incident, a police officer lost his life during a suspected Pavilion Mall jewellery heist in the Westville area of Durban. EWN reports that the heist targeted two jewellery stores within the mall. The officer, engaged in confronting the alleged criminals, was fatally wounded just outside the mall.

Roads in the vicinity were sealed off with police tape, and traffic was redirected as law enforcement handled the situation. Paramedics responding to the scene conveyed that the officer succumbed to gunshot wounds upon reaching the hospital. Additionally, two females, one of whom was pregnant, were assaulted during the alleged robbery but stabilised and transported for medical care.

Police are yet to release official comments on the incident.
