Partnership ensures water flows in Bronkhorstspruit

A proactive partnership between the Tshwane metro and Palesa Coal Mine has led to the improvement of water infrastructure in Bronkhorstspruit.

According to the metro, the major infrastructure improvement to Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant follows the refurbishment of a key motor, which plays a critical role in the water management system.

MMC for Utilities and Regional Operations, Themba Fosi, said the mine has not only facilitated the process of this refurbished motor, which will power the plant’s fourth pump but has also conducted an audit to assess further operational needs at the facility.

He said this development is set to greatly enhance the plant’s capacity and improve water service delivery to residents in Region 7.

“The findings from this audit will be shared with the Office of the Mayor to further collaboration and intervention where necessary.”

Fosi said the proactive partnership demonstrates a shared commitment to ensuring the efficient functioning of critical infrastructure.

“Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant plays a vital role in the region’s water management and these enhancements are expected to reduce downtime and significantly improve water distribution across the area.”

The partnership also aligns with Tshwane’s broader goals of improving utility services and supporting sustainable community development.

“Tshwane extends its gratitude to Palesa Coal Mine for their continued support and partnership in strengthening our service delivery efforts. This partnership shows what can be achieved when the public and private sectors work together.”

He added that the improvements at Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Plant are “a direct response to the needs of our residents and we are committed to ensuring reliable water services for all”.

The metro relies on the community’s vigilance and co-operation to protect public resources and ensure that service delivery is not compromised.

“To further safeguard the integrity of our infrastructure, residents are encouraged to report any suspicious or unauthorised utility connections to the city’s call centre at 012 358 7095/7096.
“Tshwane appreciates the ongoing support and understanding of residents. Further updates on the audit results and additional measures to enhance water service delivery in Region 7 will be duly communicated.”
